Review: The Blood of Outcasts (The Bane Sword Trilogy #1)

March 30, 2022 by Tom Bookbeard Leave a Comment

There’s a lot to love about TBoO, especially its acronym, but it’s an incredibly bloody, gritty, ronin romp that’s well worth checking out.

Book Tour and Review: The Last Gifts of the Universe by Rory August

March 28, 2022 by Justin Leave a Comment

There are stories that are pure escapism, popcorn fueled jaunts through a fantasy world designed to entertain above all else. I love those kind of stories. Hell, I named my company after those types of stories. But, I’ll be damned if it doesn’t feel good to be completely and utterly destroyed by a book every once in a while. I’m talking reaching inside and scooping out all my feelings, scraping me until I’m hollow, leaving me sobbing in the dark with an empty can of Pringles in my lap. :smiley face:

Synopsis Some battles can’t be won by swords. Aldeaith’s parents escaped the oppression of their native Tarviss to settle within the Dahlsian Empire. Growing between cultures, Aldeaith always felt like an outcast. His awkwardness around people and propensity to daydreaming didn’t help. Joining the Dahlsian army was supposed to be a fresh start. A new […]

Review: The Jealousy of Jalice (A Disaster of Dokojin #1) by Jesse Nolan Bailey

March 23, 2022 by Justin Leave a Comment

The Jealousy of Jalice has been on my TBR for a long time now. Even before it was updated with the snazzy new cover that you see on the print edition now, I was drawn to the decidedly darker, original, cover. The promise made by the original cover, more so than the updated one, is that of a dark and terrifying story. I am happy to say that it delivered on that promise and then some!

Review: The Gifts by Liz Hyder

March 14, 2022 by Paige Leave a Comment

I really enjoyed The Gifts. Told from several perspectives it starts with a hook and doesn’t let you go until it is over. This is a story that is both incredibly dark but told in such a way that the real darkness of the story never actually really comes to the surface.

I spent all of the book rooting for the women, and towards the end I really wasn’t sure what was going to happen. It became hard to put down as I just wanted to know what was going to happen.

The cover of The Memory of the Ogisi by Moses Ose Utomi. The image shows a brown building with large green hands hovering over it at the top. At the bottom of the image, a shadowed figure walks through a desert with some trees. This bottom portion of the image is upside down. The tile of the book overlaps the image in green block letters.
