Review: Children of Memory by Adrian Tchaikovsky

November 15, 2022 by David W 3 Comments

I’m happy to announce that Children of Memory exceeded my expectations and was a wild ride from the front to back. It may not be perfect, but it is a great science fiction novel with signature Tchaikovsky creativity all wrapped in a great philosophical question.

Massive thanks to Thiago for bringing FFA on to the cover reveal bandwagon for his upcoming release, A Shade of Madness (Ashes of Avarin #2). We had the pleasure of revealing the cover for Book 1 in this series, A Touch of Light, earlier this year and have to say, this new cover blows it […]

Cover Reveal: Wrath from the Mountains (The Bane Sword Saga #2) by D.A. Smith

October 20, 2022 by David W Leave a Comment

Hello and welcome to the cover reveal for D.A. Smith’s next fantasy novel, Wrath from the Mountains! I was a massive fan of the first book in the series, The Blood of Outcasts, so I am super thrilled to both have the opportunity to reveal the cover for book 2 and get a copy in my hands. If you haven’t already read it, you can check out my review of The Blood of Outcasts here (I gave it a 9/10, a near perfect score!) The short of it though is that Smith has written an extremely compelling character in Masako, the disgraced samurai in dogged pursuit of redemption.

Nona the Ninth (The Locked Tomb #3) by Tamsyn Muir

September 27, 2022 by David W 1 Comment

Nona the Ninth is tremendous—there’s maximum intrigue right from the start in true Muir fashion; in the form of, we don’t know who Nona is and neither does she, though there’s rubbish meals, cool t-shirts, a dog with three legs and a looming … something. It reeks of … something punk—cyberpunk?—punk something as we’re treated to a hopeful story of a person called Nona, and her minders Palamedes-and-Camilla, and the ten-thousand-year-old Pyrrha. Our favourite necromancers-in-space series stops off for a break in a desolate city, in the desert of a world besieged by blue light.

Review: Never Say Never (Timber Falls #7) By Fiona West

September 12, 2022 by David W Leave a Comment

Never Say Never brings together two broken characters and gives them the space to heal through each other, despite the challenges and obstacles in their paths. With a keen eye for character development and a deft hand at creating tension and conflict, West has written a wonderful story of learning to allow yourself to love and be loved. I couldn’t have chosen a better book as my first experience with contemporary romance than Never Say Never.
