Review:
I was sent a copy of Unapologetic Love Story in exchange for an honest review.
Oh I completely and utterly loved this. In all honesty I didn’t really expect to, I went in thinking that it would be a fun romance I’d enjoy but I didn’t expect to love it so much.
Unapologetic is a great way to describe this romance, and while I know it’s mainly meant to be a nod to some of the dialogue in the book, it perfectly describes the way that the romance is written. It is completely and utterly unapologetic. There’s no big reason why Raina and Tom must date, there’s no trope that forces them together (he wants to write an article on her but there’s no like fake dating etc y’know). They just fall for each other and yes, there is a third act breakup, but honestly I would have been very happy to read a full book of just their romance, no drama or break up.
It was perfectly cosy and their romance was simple and real. Raina is an autistic woman and I think Elle McNicoll captured that in such a realistic way, and it wasn’t a big huge issue or motivating factor in the romance itself. As much as I know it’s an important part of the book I won’t speak too much on it as I’ll never do it justice.
The romance is beautiful, the spice is perfect and I was genuinely sad when it ended. What a wonderful wonderful book.
