Review:
Was Threshing Day necessary?
Not really.
It is definitely filler, written for the fans, and didn’t add that much.
Don’t get me wrong – it was fun. Dialogue-heavy which Yarros excels at and filled with snarky dragons.
However, I don’t think it offered much depth to any of the characters, except maybe for Sloane.
It is repetitive due to the very nature of the book – 13 instances of Threshing Day:
Brennan, Mira, Xaden, Garrick, Dain, Bodhi, Imogon, Rhiannon, Sawyer, Ridoc, Liam, Sloane, Aaric.
The book also provides warnings for which stories contain spoilers for Fourth Wing and Iron Flame which is pretty handy.
Would I recommend this?
If you’re a fan, it’s enjoyable, especially by audiobook due to the focus on dialogue and lacking description.
It is certainly not required reading for this series.
