Synopsis:

He and Sage Summers are the one equation that keeps him up at night. She’s beautiful, fierce, wickedly powerful… and has more walls guarding her heart than the Great Barrier Reef. As attacks against witches increase, Gideon will need Sage’s help to uncover who is behind the mysterious blood feud between sirens and witches… before someone is seriously hurt.
Review:
It’s so nice when I can return to the characters of Everwood Falls. I love the enchanted mountain town setting with all its quirks, like the carnivorous spruce trees and the elk with glowing antlers. I grew up in Colorado, and reading about Everwood Falls always makes me wish our real-life mountain towns were like this fictional one. And with the cozy vibes of each story, reading them is like a much-needed hug.
I especially enjoyed The Siren’s Cursed Kiss, and it might be my favorite of the series so far. Sage is a green witch with sometimes uncontrollable power (and she’s also partly responsible for those carnivorous spruce trees), but her power comes with a hefty price. She was made to live in Everwood Falls, where her magic doesn’t pose as much of a danger as it would elsewhere—and that means she lives far away from the rest of her family. Gideon is a merman (in this world, they can shift to a human form when out of water) who is in Everwood Falls by choice, though his decision to live there means he is also distant from his family. The town is next to a lake though, and he’s also a swim coach at the local high school, so he has plenty of access to water.
As with the previous books in the series, the mystery element was really well done. There are always a few twists and turns in the plot, and the danger the characters face is interspersed with plenty of cozy scenes that bring a smile to my face. While there’s a bit of romance, it’s the found family and friendships showcased in this series that keeps me coming back. I love the sense of community these characters share (the romance between Sage and Gideon in this book was really sweet too.)
So if you’re looking for cozy mystery meets fantasy, you enjoy mountain towns filled with magical folk from a wide array of backgrounds, or if you like romance without on-page spice, do check out the Everwood Falls series. But be warned: some of the scenes may leave you craving cupcakes or hot chocolate. 😊
