Synopsis

This mother’s love knows no limits

Right, I’m going to keep this short because in the time you spend reading my review of Crossroads you could have gone to your local bookshop and grabbed yourself a copy. This is a 9/10 book. That for me means stop what you are doing and go get this book! Seriously got get this book. You won’t be let down.

Being a parent of three beautiful and thankfully healthy children I could instantly connect with our main character Chris. A grieving mother that wants to see her boy just one more time. Laurel Hightower creates a deeply fascinating character with Chris and even though she is in the absolute darkest depths of despair I found her actions and choices believable. Using Chris, our author explores the entire range of emotions of parenthood and gives us a snapshot of our worst fear, the loss of a child and the world-destroying despair that comes with it.

There isn’t anything this book does wrong for me. I found the plot to be unique and original which is harder and harder to come by as I read more and more, which many of you can easily understand. I found the characters to be well thought out and well rounded. Most importantly for me, and this is why this book got a 9/10, is that it got me right in the feels. Crossroads got me emotionally involved and yes, I may have even shed a tear in the final few chapters.

I recommend this book to absolutely everyone. If you are looking to pick up your first horror then start here as you won’t be disappointed. If you are already deep into the genre and what something original then pick this book up. If anything then pick this book up. 

I can’t wait to read more from Laurel Hightower.
