Review:
What a creepy little read! (And I mean that in the best possible way.)
BestGhost is the story of two friends who run a ghost hunting channel. Sean is a believer, but he’s clearly terrified of actually encountering a ghost, while Devon is the skeptic seeking scientific explanations for anything they might find. I liked the banter between them; it was a nice counterpoint to the eerie encounters they start to have as they explore the Old Mayor’s Mansion.
The paranormal activity is subtle at first, but continues to build throughout the story. It’s obvious early on that Sean and Devon aren’t alone in the mansion, but neither wants to admit what they’re experiencing is something supernatural, at least at first. In classic fashion, they continue, unaware of the danger they’re in until it’s too late to go back.
What made this story especially creepy was its unresolved ending. There was just enough detail to make me speculate, but not enough to know what really happened in the mansion.
As far as ghost stories go, this was a good one, and it’s a great length if you’re looking for a quick, eerie story. BestGhost is the perfect read for the Halloween season.
