I love Science Fiction, but for some reason I find myself almost always picking up other genres. To remedy this, I have decided to participate in #SciFiMonth’s readathon for November. So without further ado, here are some of the Sci Fi novels/novellas that I will try to get to in November.
All Systems Red (Murderbot #1) by Martha Wells
I have been meaning to read this for some time(you’ll see this is a theme) and now I am gonna make it happen. A story about a snarky, self aware security robot who hacked itself, is annoyed by humans, and just wants to be left alone sounds right up my alley. I might even get to books 2 and 3 in the series since they are such short novellas at around 150 pages.
Alliances (Star Wars: Thrawn #2) by Timothy Zahn
The 2nd book in the Thrawn origin trilogy is another one I am really excited to get to this month. Grand Admiral Thrawn is one of the best villains in all of Star Wars and it is really fascinating to see his rise to power and leadership.
Shadow of The Hegemon (The Shadow Series #2) by Orson Scott Card
My favorite single book in the world is Ender’s Game and it was so cool to dive into the parallel story to that in Ender’s Shadow through the perspective of Bean. I’m highly looking forward to continuing this series to see the repercussions of Ender’s, Peter’s, and Violet’s actions on Earth.
The Old Man’s War (Old Man’s War #1) by John Scalzi
The premise of this series is so unique and I am very intrigued to see how I will like it. I’ve heard very good things about it so I hope it’s a winner!
The Collapsing Empire (The Interdependency #1) by John Scalzi
Another John Scalzi first book in a series. My goal is to definitely finish at least one of the Scalzi books on this TBR. Fingers crossed!
Starsight (Skyward #2) by Brandon Sanderson
This has been in my top 3 most anticipated reads all of 2019. Ever since I read Skyward I couldn’t wait for book 2 to see where Callsign Spin and her crew are gonna be taken next. You can be sure that when I get this on the day it comes out on November 26 I will be dropping everything else and diving in! You can preorder with the Amazon link above. If you haven’t read book 1 Skyward and enjoy fast paced, fun, gripping, sci-fi action, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
What are you reading in November? If you have the time and like sci-fi, consider putting at least one sci-fi book on your TBR this month and #SciFiMonth on Twitter to be part of the discussion! Happy reading!

I’m so happy to see all the Murderbot love on this year’s TBRs – can’t wait to hear what you all make of my favourite snarkbot.

Already 56% through the first book. It is already hilarious, fun, fast paced, and intriguing. And I love Murderbot. He’s such a lovable, awkward, introvert.

I really need to pick up 3 and 4. These stories are a joy.

Starsight is definitely one of my most anticipated releases of the year!! There’s a couple of people tackling Murderbot, so excited for you all! Collapsing Empire is definitely one I need to get to, especially with the final book in the trilogy out next year, but it probably won’t make it into my TBR for this month.
Happy Reading!

Thank you! I actually just started Murderbot and I am so excited for Starsight! Collapsing Empire is probably at the bottom of this TBR so it might not get read this month….🤷♂️. Ya never know though!

Old Man’s War was my most recent read, it was fantastic, I hope you get to it. I am hoping to start Skyward after I finish the Forever War series.

Murderbot is SO GOOD!!! I’m also intrigued by the Ender’s Game book, I’ve only read the first two books in the original series, and loved both of them to pieces.
David S says
I am loving Murderbot! The Shadow series starts with Ender’s shadow and it is a parallel story to Ender’s Game, but from Bean’s perspective and I quite liked it. This one is a lot about Peter, the other battle school kids, and what happened on Earth.

Murderbot was solid, and Old Man’s War nice as well – have fun with those! 🙂 I’m planning to tackle Thrawn: Alliances, Thrawn was a pleasant surprise.
David S says
I agree. Thrawn was pretty good. I was expecting more action, but just getting more into Thrawn’s mind was fascinating!

I loved Collapsing Empire and its second part in the series. It is one of my favorite series. All Systems Red is one of my favorites too. I read Artificial Condition (second murderbot novella) this month. Great TBR!
David S says
I already read All Systems Red in the last couple days and it was so good! I loved it!
David S says
Also thank you! 🙂

Good luck with your TBR!! I still want to read Skyward but I don’t think I will get to it this time around haha
David S says
Thanks! I’m already cheating on my TBR by reading Murderbot #2 instead of the other unread books😂. You should definitely read Skyward! Great book!
