Cover Reveal: The Mayhem of Scoundrels (The Envoys of Chaos #2) by Dave Lawson

May 14, 2026 by Adam Bassett Leave a Comment

In 2025 The Envoys of War was of one my favorite reads. Lawson balances wit and charm against drama and sincerity in a way that really drew me in to that story. So, I am thrilled to share the cover for book 2.

The Mayhem of Scoundrels picks up after the events of book 1. Despite my best efforts, Dave has told me very little about the book, but based on this cover art, it looks like Gen and Cordyn have a new foe to face…

About The Mayhem of Scoundrels

After the events of The Envoys of War, Gen and Cordyn embark on a dangerous mission, infiltrating the Rosenfellian Academy, where one mistake will lead to their untimely deaths.

War beckons and nothing is as it seems. Allies and enemies blur together and no one is safe.

With the help of old friends and new allies, Gen and Cordyn must find a way to survive.

About the Author

Dave Lawson is an Oklahoma-based fantasy novelist. He received an MFA in Fiction Writing from The New School in 2009 and published some contemporary literary fiction, before spending several years doing absolutely nothing with his degree. Now, he writes what he enjoys reading–fast-paced, witty fantasy. His first fantasy novel, The Envoys of War, was published in October of 2024. He enjoys writing about conniving rakes and creative liars who do whatever they must to get what they desire. However, Dave’s not like his characters. Pinky swear.

When he’s not writing, he teaches high school English and Drama. He lives with his wife, Caitlin, and their dog, Rowena, who is a ball of energy. In a past life, Dave was surely a pirate.

You can follow Dave on Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, or Twitter.
