Cover Reveal – Cast a Cold Shadow (Shade the Collector #3) by Douglas Lumsden

July 2, 2026 by Charlie Cavendish Leave a Comment

Douglas Lumsden wearer of the finest fedora and legendry indie author has bestowed upon me the greatest honour. The world exclusive cover reveal for his latest book in the Shade the Collector series – Cast a Cold Shadow

Slinking into the footsteps of Claws of the Collector (Book1) and In Deep Coprolite (Book 2), Cast a Cold Shadow finds our favourite liberator of exotic and potentially lethal magical artifacts, Benedict Shade, up to his neck in trouble from both the physical and spiritual worlds. As were-cat of many talents has he finally run out lives…

Let’s hope not. Check out the blurb for Cast a Cold Shadow

Shade vs. Shades

Deadly phantoms stand in the way of Benedict Shade’s quest to “collect” (i.e., “steal”) an exotic magical artifact that could lead him to the fulfillment of his lifelong ambition: locating the prison of the legendary Earthmaker. But ghosts are not Shade’s only problem. A mysterious necromancer would like him to give up his quest. The police would like to frame him for murder. A government witch would like to send him to a labor camp in the frozen North. A dead woman from his checkered past would like to drag him kicking and screaming to her own private underworld. And on top of everything else, Shade’s new girlfriend wants him to give up burglary! It might be more than a shapeshifting were-cat can stand – or survive!

Now without further ado, feast your eyes on the amazing cover (credit – Miblart)

Cast A Cold Shadow will be out in the world on 10th August. Keep your eyes peeled for pre-order information and go buy it!

About Charlie Cavendish

Hey I’m Charlie!

I’m old enough to have seen the original Star Wars trilogy at the cinema which may account for the grey hairs on my head. I currently live in Sydney (Australia) with my wife, three teenage children, and two pugs. I have spent about half my life in the UK and the balance in Australia so tend to have a strong English sense of humour.

I’ve always loved books and reading but stumbled into the world of indie authors/self-publishing after making the “brave” leap onto Twitter in 2022. This proved to be a revelation and I have been getting involved in the community ever since, with my main area of interest being on indie SFF books. That said I’m always keen to read as widely as possible.

I’m keen to help promote indie authors and so thought I’d try my hand at writing a few reviews, it’s early days so please bear with me.

Outside of reading and the book community, I love running, my pugs, and my family (not in that order).
