Review: The Price of Piety (A” Shadow of the Collegiate Short Story) by DB Rook

September 20, 2023 by Alan Behan Leave a Comment

Rating: 8.5/10

Synopsis

Not afraid to get their hands dirty, a crew of miscreant thieves go after the font of all wealth, buried somewhere deep in the guts of the revered Collegiate.
Powerful sorcery, guardians in the dark, and latrine duty stand against the dysfunctional gang.
Only a vague sense of camaraderie, loosely bound with spit, laziness and greed, holds them together as they plot their descension.
With one eye firmly fixed on how to spend their haul, the other on their wayward brothers, can they infiltrate the esteemed facility and escape rich and ready for their next heist?

Review

A fantastic, fun, short story by D.B. Rook.  The Price of Piety from his upcoming series, A “Shadows of the Collegiate”.

I absolutely love D.B. Rooks writing from the very first line, you are hooked and drawn into an action-packed and fast-paced story that sets you on edge for the horrors that await and what could be a horrible end for some of his characters.

The Collegiate is no ordinary place, full of sorcery, dark magic, and sinister going ons. A crew of miscreants thieves have their eyes set on the biggest haul of their lives and must use all their cunning to infiltrate if they are to get into the facility.

With their plan in place, the Wayward brothers have it all set in motion, but when greed, laziness, and back stabbing come into play, will our gang of thieves escape with their lives and a haul that will make them very rich. Check it out to find out. You won’t regret it.

It’s an intriguing story from start to finish. If you haven’t checked out D.B. Rook writing yet. Check out his book Callus and Crow the first book in his Wayward World Chronicles series. It’s absolutely brilliant, and I very highly recommend….😁🔥🖤
