Synopsis
John Carver has three rules: Don’t drink in the daytime, don’t gamble when the luck has gone, and don’t talk to the dead people who come to visit.
It has been almost five years since the incident in Kabul. Since the magic stirred within him and the stories began. Fleeing the army, running from the whispers, the guilt, and the fear he was losing his mind, Carver fell into addiction, dragging himself through life one day at a time.
Desperation has pulled him back to Afghanistan, back to the heat, the dust, and the truth he worked so hard to avoid. But there are others, obsessed with power and forbidden magics, who will stop at nothing to learn the truth of his gifts. Abducted and chained, Carver must break more than his own rules if he is to harness this power and survive.
Review
Holy moly, have you ever read a book that you absolutely loved, found hilarious but it also gave you anxiety while reading it as the characters are put through the grinder and wondering, will you and the characters make it to the end unscathed.
Yep, the Lore of Prometheus does that to you, and it was bloody fantastic. Written and put together superbly by Graham Austin-King, the author of the wonderful Riven Wyrde saga and the amazing standalone book Faitless.
Graham Austin-King has put together a modern-day fantasy thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat with its intensity. It’s action-packed and fast-paced. If you love a protagonist with hilarious one-liners, then you will love ex British Special Forces John Carver.
The Lore of Prometheus is a book with a fantastic plot that is dark and violent, but the characters will provide that needed hope that things will get better. It is quite upsetting in places. It uses torture, so if you are of a sensitive nature, be very warned.
John Carver is on the run from himself of a sorts, up to his eyes in depth, guilt ridden haunted by his past, and followed by ghosts of his dead team from the Special Forces. John Carver is the only one who survived that incident in Kabul five years ago. How he still doesn’t know. John needs money fast, and his talents take him back to Afghanistan.
McKenzie is a young Australian nurse in Afghanistan treating war victims. McKenzie also has a past that haunts her when her family died in a fire, and she is the only surviver.
John and McKenzie lives are about to change forever when they are abducted by an evil Middle Eastern scientist who is trying to steal or acquire their “magical” powers they didn’t even know they had. If they’re to live through this nightmare. Magic can only set them free.
Damn, I hope Graham Austin-King writes more stories about these characters. A dark tale that will leave you begging for more. If you haven’t checked out Graham’s books yet, I very highly recommend that you do…😁🔥💀⚡️🖤
