Review: Praise by Sara Cate

September 30, 2025 by Isabelle Leave a Comment

Rating: /10

This obviously is mostly a website for Scifi, Fantasy, and Horror books, but every once in a while I read a book in a different genre that I really want to share anyways. Today, it’s a Romance book. I was obsessed with this one and immediately bought a print copy of it when I was done.

Synopsis

He calls me perfect.
His flawless pet.
His good girl.

Broken down and wounded by my emotionally neglectful ex, I wanted someone to tell me I was good enough.

Then, I stumbled into a new job with a boss who brings me to my knees—literally. He has me do things a real secretary would never do.

Emerson Grant tells me I’m more than just good enough.
I’m worthy of his praise.

There are a million reasons why I should stay away. The owner of the Salacious Players’ Club is not just my new boss, he’s twice my age.

And my ex-boyfriend’s father.

With him, I am treasured. I am adored. I am his.

I’m a good girl, but I’m falling for the wrong man.

Emerson Grant knows what he wants—
And he wants me.

So how far will I go to hear his approval?

Review

I adored this book. It was just the right book at the right time for me and I want everyone around me to read it and love it with me. Or maybe not, because what if I’m the only one that loves it? Hah. It has extremely mixed reviews, as these kinds of books always seem to have, but it was the perfect way to mix things up for me.

But really though, I really enjoyed the characters, the kinks and tropes of their story, and how their romance developed. It started out hilariously and had me cackling so hard. I could totally imagine myself in such a weird position (hehe) and reacting the same way because I’m just so non-confrontational. That same humor showed several more times throughout the book, but it also had really serious moments that balanced that out well. The side characters were interesting and added good humor and tension as well.

The spice was really fun. It didn’t feel awkward between them at all, in my opinion, and their dynamic just worked really well for the situations they were in. Despite their awkward first meeting, I was cheering for them from the start and seeing the development of their relationship was really satisfying.

I’ve read the first three books of this series now and this first one is my favorite by far, but I’m hopeful that I’ll find more books from Sara Cate that’ll have me just as excited to share them with you.
