Synopsis
Darrow returns as Pierce Brown’s New York Times bestselling Red Rising series continues in the thrilling sequel to Dark Age.
“The measure of a man is not the fear he sows in his enemies. It is the hope he gives his friends.”—Virginia au Augustus
The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains.
But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend.
The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.
Review
That was just incredible and one of my favourite books of the whole series. But why oh why is Pierce Brown so damn ruthless, I’ve never sobbed so much coming to an end of a book with my heart torn asunder, and it’s left me reeling for days after.
Light Bringer is the sixth book in the Red Rising series, and I have loved, laughed, cried, and threw some hissy fits throughout the series. I can’t wait for Red God, the final book, because I want to see a certain character get his comeuppance and absolutely annihilated.
These amazing cast of characters have become my family over the last couple of months, and I hope we don’t have to wait long till we meet them again and take that last journey with them and see how this amazing series comes to its conclusion. I’m sure there will be plenty of more tears and heartbreak ahead.
Pierce Brown’s writing and worldbuilding is so sublime that you are just left in awe by his brilliance to constantly create amazing plot after plot, twist after twist that keeps your head absolutely spinning, His character development is truly out of this world. The characters are so powerful. Their friendship, love, ambitions, and their absolute ruthlessness hold no bounds.
Darrow hasn’t seen his wife and son in months and is longing to reunite with them after a devastating humiliation on Mercury. But there is a new threat standing in his way. A new would be conqueror of the golds that will do anything and everything, murder friends, kill millions, destroy worlds to bring an end to the Republic once and for all.
It’s a really moving read with excellent action and depth. You will end up loving all the characters and loathed some with a passion. It is an emotional rollercoaster that I would very highly recommend. Can’t wait for the next one, Hail Libertas! Hail Reaper!
