Synopsis
When Zayn, your smoking hot boss, tells you never to touch the cache of deluxe tattoo ink locked away in his office, you listen to him… until the day you run out of your own ink, your squirming client is on the verge of peeing his pants, and your boss is nowhere to be found. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?
I fully expected Zayn to yell at me when he returned to the shop. What I didn’t expect was the fresh cobra tattoo on my client’s butt magically springing to life. Or the interdimensional filing cabinet hiding in the back of Zayn’s office. And, oh, did I mention that my gorgeous, magic-ink-hoarding boss is actually an incubus?
Now – through (mostly) no fault of my own – we have to venture into a strange and distant land where a never-ending list of lethal flora, fauna, and fae await us. When you add in my Jewish mother’s string of poorly-timed, hysterical phone calls, there is one thing I’m grateful for: there’s no cell service in the fae realm.
Review
Wow, what an absolute breath of fresh air this story was, a fantastic cosy little read to tuck your feet up with a cup of tea or, as Rachel Rener, would say a nice glass of cheap wine to wash down this excellent, warm, fun and colourful adventure.
Inked is the first book of a four part series of The Gilded Blood. It is a very cleverly put together fantastical story, full of laugh out loud and funny moments, and some very spicy scenes added into the mix that will get your glasses all steamy.
This book is a wonder of energetic imagination. The author, Mrs Rener, has created a wonderful world for her readers to get lost in with fabulous crazy characters, especially the main protagonist Talia’s Jewish mother Dee Dee was absolutely hilarious.
For someone who, like me, who loves, tattoo parlours, and is covered in tattoos, I knew I would thoroughly enjoy this, where tattoos magically come to life.
The succubus that is Rachel Rener pulls you into her magical fae realm, full of sirens and vampires, and other magical creatures and does not let you go till you have read this in one sitting.
In Inked Talia’s world is changed forever when she breaks into her boss Zane’s office and uses his magic bottle of tattoo ink on her client to finish his butt corba. It suddenly comes to life, causing all sorts of mayhem.
After coming to terms with what just happened, Talia sets out to find her boss who has been missing for a couple of days. She turns up at his apartment, where she is trussed into a new world of magic and finds that her boss hasn’t been very straight with her. He has been hiding a secret that will set her on a new road of wonder and magic.
A fantastic, easy read, light-hearted, and loveable character’s that will love. If you haven’t checked out any of Rachel Rener’s books yet, I very highly recommend that you do. Now, for book 2, Jinxed…😁💙🧜🧛📗
