Synopsis
Kerrigan Argon has joined the Dragon Society against almost everyone’s wishes. A year of training is required with her dragon.
First, though, she must travel with the dark Fae prince, Fordham Ollivier, back to his home in the House of Shadows. Nothing but slavery and death has ever awaited a half-Fae in their halls.
But something is wrong within their wicked world.
A thousand-year-old spell is weakening. Cracks are forming in their foundations. And Kerrigan may just be their ruin or their salvation . . .
Review
I binged book two just as fast as book one.
We learn more about the House of Shadows as the name suggests, and we also learn more about the secrets of Kerrigan’s past.
We get a new team of friends where the bonding of training forces them to trust each other. Trials, dragons, and magic. The perfect mix for a fast-paced romantasy book.
Again, I liked that Linde demonstrates minorities protesting and standing up and the heavy retaliation and fear. The author’s note mentions this was written during BLM. Reading and fantasy are a safer mediums to reflect on our own world. We may not have magic or dragons, but we do have a voice.
Fordham and Kerrigan is summed up by will-they-won’t-they. It was infuriating. This will keep romantasy readers hooked, but maybe regular fantasy readers slightly frustrated by the lack of concrete progress.
Romance aside, this is an addicting series that will fly you out of a slump.
