Review
Damn, my second time through Hall of Bones, and it still hits you like a punch in the face. I’d forgotten how brutal this amazing inspired norse tale was, I’m am so emotionally drained after reliving what Tim Hardie puts his characters through.
Hall of Bones is Tim Hardie’s debut book and the first of his series, The Brotherhood of the Eagle. The reason for a reread was to refresh my memory because I’d never gotten around to reading the last two books. It was even better the second time, and now I’m ready to continue my journey in the world of Laskar.
Hall of Bones is a novel with a fantastic cast of characters, and the worldbuilding is absolutely epic. The plot and setting are excellent. The fighting scenes are beautifully written, gore ridden, and feel so real, as if you are there in the flesh, witnessing them first hand.
In the land of Laskar rival clans, are odds with each other, raiding each others lands, but there is a new power on the rise in the south. The Vorund clans chief has just murdered his father and brothers to take control, and his eyes are set on the rest of Laskar.
Our main protagonist, Rothgar, is also the younger son of the Clan Chief of Reavesburg has been groomed for a role supporting his elder brother, Jorik, in leading their kingdom when their father’s time finally comes to an end. However, the rulers of their greatest rivals, the Vorund Clan, are in the grip of something older and far darker, an ancient enemy has returned, and no clan is safe from its clutches. Everything is about to change.
A fantastic read from start to finish, a story full of twists and turns that brings you on such an emotional roller coaster. Now, for the second book, Sundered Souls, if you love norse Inspired Fantasy books, I very highly recommend….😁🗡🔥🖤🪓🏹
