Tam Hashford is tired of working at her local pub, slinging drinks for world-famous mercenaries and listening to the bards sing of adventure and glory in the world beyond her sleepy hometown.
When the biggest mercenary band of all rolls into town, led by the infamous Bloody Rose, Tam jumps at the chance to sign on as their bard. It’s adventure she wants – and adventure she gets as the crew embark on a quest that will end in one of two ways: glory or death.

Review
Book 2 of the Band: Bloody Rose. This story took place 6 years after the first book (Kings of the Wyld). I appreciate the fact that Nick introduced a whole new main characters for this sequel (with some recurring characters from the first book).
To be honest this story started off quite slow. I get the fact that Nick is trying to introduce the background and past of the bandmates of the new notorious band, the Fable. I appreciate it as well because I love authors who attempt to explore the inner conflicts of each characters and their character development. But it is really slow paced though with some action here and there.
However, the second half of the story immediately pushed my initial 3.5 star rating to a strong 4 star rating. The story gets very interesting after a major twist in the plot and Nick did a very good job in describing the final battle with the undead and the Winter Queen. As usual, the humor element in this story appealed to me and worked well in the story (although I feel this sequel is darker than the first book). I think Nick has established his own distinctive writing style which is very engaging. Overall, this sequel deserves a strong 4/5 star rating and I can’t wait for Nick’s future works!
