The two friends hear a story about a mysterious white whale who lives off the coast of Birdwell Island. Her name is Babette, and she’s the same size as Clifford-which makes her the perfect new friend for the big red dog!
Clifford and Emily Elizabeth try everything to get Babette to come out of hiding. Finally, they discover that the whale’s favorite thing is music! Will Clifford’s song convince Babette to come say hi?

Big New Friend is an adorable addition to the Clifford the Big Red Dog series. The story is all about searching for Babette, the white whale Emily Elizabeth and Clifford keep hearing about. Thing is, no one has actually SEEN Babette except for her tail as she dives back into the ocean.
This story is pretty straightforward with some teachable moments (i.e. Emily Elizabeth asking around about Babette and reading a book on whale watching) and problem-solving (i.e. attempting to figure out just how to lure Babette out of the water).
I always love seeing how Clifford sort of “saves the day” as you will, and especially how he makes fast and easy friends with courtesy and a big heart.
If you enjoy Clifford the Big Red Dog, this is a solid entry. You also get stickers, and who doesn’t LOVE stickers???
