Review: Age of The Dryad (The Dark Oak Chronicles #2) by Jacob Sannox

April 12, 2024 by Alan Behan Leave a Comment

Rating: 9.5/10

Synopsis

The second book of The Dark Chronicles.

The dryads have risen up against humanity. Queen Cathryn’s realm is broken, her people have scattered, and the future is uncertain.
She gives Tolucan, a newly knighted commoner, a seemingly impossible, secret quest; to seek out the sole weakness of Dark Oak, King of the Dryads, and to destroy him, whatever the cost.
Even within the forest, strife threatens Dark Oak’s reign, but he will not be defeated so easily.
While humanity is still on its knees, the dryad seeks dark secrets, in forgotten places, unaware that Sir Tolucan, humanity’s last remaining hope, is hunting him . . .

Jacob Sannox welcomes you to the Age of the Dryad.

Review

I absolutely love this amazing series by Jacob Sannox. This is my fourth reread of the series and it gets better every time I read it. My reason for my fourth read you ask, well I’ve been given an arc copy of The Devising, the third and final book by the man himself and just needed a refresher so everything flows beautifully as I delve into the conclusion of this masterpiece of a trilogy.

The Age of The Dryad is the second book in The Dark Oak Chronicles. Jacob Sannox has created a beautiful and dark mystical new world, where your mind just drifts off and makes you feel as you are there with characters. His worldbuilding is fantastic and his writing is so poetic you just lose yourself in the pages.

A new Dark Lord is on the rise, and he has sights set on ending humanity, with the humans on there knees, being forced to live with out growing or building to sustain their lives. As the story goes on it gets darker and more emotional, there is alot of angry characters with vengeance in their hearts of being wronged and there worlds literally ripped apart. Only one way to stop it, kill the Dark Lord.

If you love Dryads, Sylphs, Naiads and other creatures of lore, you will definitely love this, fantastic characters and story, and its only going to get better. Another fantastic performances from Nigel Peever with his narration skills bringing this brilliant series to life, the sfx and epic music will have you drooling, just absolutley wonderful. I can’t recommend this series highly enough, check it out you won’t regret it…😁
