Monday Writing Prompts

May 3, 2021 by Manny Henri Leave a Comment

Every Mondays I’ll add to this post a new writing prompt to spur those creative juices after the weekend. As part of the exercise, I’ll randomly pick cards from the amazing Story Engine and feature a concept artist who agreed to provide art related to the prompt.

The goal of the exercise is to let it inspire you through the art and the combination of the chosen cards from the story engine. Who knows… this may cause you to write your next blockbuster novel, screenplay, or short-story.

If you’re interested in getting your own Story Engine kit you can order it here.

This week’s Prompt

“A wise paladin wants to set an elaborate trap with an elemental tree but it means evil will go unpunished“

The art above was graciously provided to us for inspiration by Tiago Sousa. You can see his entire portfolio on Artstation here or follow him on twitter here.

Last week’s prompt

“A fiery slasher wants to unleash the divine wrath of a demonic time machine but he will never be able to travel off-world again”

This week we have the privilege of having 3 artists inspiring us with great images…

The art above was graciously provided to us for inspiration by Andy Walsh. You can see his entire portfolio on Artstation here or follow him on Instagram here.

April 19th’s Prompt

“A misleading cannibal wants to conceal the dangers of a privately owned carnival but no one will ever know the reasons why”

April 12th’s Prompt

but he must face what he’s been running from. “

About Manny Henri

Emmanuel Henri grew up in Chambly, a city in the tail of Quebec (Canada) near Montreal. He’s an established technologist with 25 years of experience in the world of programming and design, and also published 125 courses on several platforms such as Linkedin Learning, Pluralsight and O’reilly. Since his teens, he always had a knack for storytelling, especially monster-driven tales, and has compiled a boatload of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and horror ideas he’s thrilled to put into words. To keep his head sane and healthy, especially after his close call with cancer in 2020 (now in remission), he’s pledged his body to a strict diet and rigorous exercise plan. He’s currently working on his novel “Ashes” and editing “From the mist” and several short-stories, such as “The Agency”.
