COVER REVEALS: The Murders at Camp Ketchum / The Midnight Halloween Horror Show / The Winter Haven Slasher by E. Reyes

January 4, 2024 by C. J. Daley (CJDsCurrentRead) Leave a Comment

A huge thanks to the author for giving me to opportunity to boost this awesome announcement. Below you’ll see the cover reveals/publishing schedule for E. Reyes’ 2024 with The Murders at Camp Ketchum, The Midnight Halloween Horror Show, and The Winter Haven Slasher.

If you are unfamiliar with Reyes’ work, I have recently reviewed three of their 2023 releases, and you can read the reviews here.

While many of their releases are standalone, the author does often write in a combined universe that features their town of Devil’s Hill.

“Stephen King has Castle Rock. R. L. Stine has Fear Street. E. Reyes has Devil’s Hill.“

In 1996, Luna and her friends decided to do something fun together before they started college in the fall. Even though Luna was against it, they would be partying one last night together at a desert camping site in the mountains called Camp Ketchum. The camp was shut down the previous year due to a counselor massacring the campers and staff. A night of celebration turns into a night of survival.

Across the town, serial killer Rafe Ramon, dubbed “The Valley Night Snake,” is slithering his way into Devil’s Hill, Arizona, from Phoenix, Arizona, where he has left a trail of bodies and cops on his case. After a botched home invasion, Rafe asks the Devil for protection from the law and money. After making his pact, Rafe knows he has to shed more blood to receive his gifts. Luckily, he will find the perfect place to make his offerings.

Luna and friends discover a summer night of fun, food, drinks, and murder around the bonfire.

Prolific horror writer E. Reyes returns with a new collection of never-been-published stories that will pair perfectly for the Halloween season.

In the midnight hours in Devil’s Hill, Arizona, in 1999, Steve wakes up and decides to watch TV. After channel surfing, he finds a local access program that shouldn’t air new episodes because the host has been dead for a year. Steve feels strange as he watches the bizarre and resurrected Monster Mateo, host of Monster Mateo’s Movie Madness Hour. He feels odd because Mateo looks awfully dead, the short horror films Steve watches are unheard of, and some of the segments feel oh-too-real.

In “Desert Vampire Party,” Bianca is invited to a Halloween party on the outskirts of Devil’s Hill to party with some unsuspecting guests. In “I Think This House is Haunted,” Anthony house sits for his parents when he discovers that he may not be the only one in the home. In “The Doll Collector,” a man born under the wrong sign is passionate about dolls–human dolls. In “The Clown Animatronic at My Window,” Guillermo discovers a hideous, spooky clown animatronic in his backyard that gets creepier as the days of October go by. “In This House” follows a man who wakes up from a drinking binge only to find himself inside a home he has never been in before, and unexplainable things ensue. In “Halloween Slasher Massacre,” Frank, a twisted cameraman who shoots and sells snuff films on the dark web, follows a serial killer in action and records it all with his digital camcorder.

E. Reyes showcases his trademark horror, dark humor, mystery, gore-filled stories, and emotion-driven storytelling in this collection of Halloween horror stories. You will want to stay up late for The Midnight Halloween Horror Show.

Title: The Winter Haven Slasher

It’s the holidays, and Jim wants nothing more than to get through them and done. Jim was recently divorced and finds himself in Winter Haven, Arizona, to help his Uncle Rudy with his corner store. Uncle Rudy had never needed the help, but ever since his wife, Maria, was involved in a fatal car accident, he was left to manage alone with the help of his nephew, fresh out of high school, Dante. Dante is a slacker, so Jim has to act as manager and juggle positions at the store.

On the night Jim arrives, a young woman is found murdered in her home, wrapped in Christmas lights. Soon after, more killings take place, and the unknown perpetrator takes on the name of “The Winter Haven Slasher,” as the town begins to call him. Nothing is known about the killer, but one witness claims to have seen a man in a black leather jacket, a snowman mask, and a hatchet in his gloved hand hiding behind some bushes.

Jim gets in the middle of the slayings, and fingers begin pointing at him. It becomes his duty to try and find out who and why is bringing fear during the holiday cheer.

About the author

E. Reyes is a writer, a horror fanatic, and the author of Devil’s Hill, The Halloween Grindhouse, The House on Moon Creek Avenue, and The Love Song of Nathan Crane. Overloading on books and movies and working retail, Reyes brings terror and the unimaginable to everyday life with his experiences and transcends them into a different range of characters and situations. When not watching scary movies and reading books, E. Reyes is busy being a father and a husband and putting in time playing Xbox. He resides in Arizona. Follow E. Reyes on social media @ EReyesAuthor. Instagram Linktree Goodreads Amazon

One of my favorite things about E. Reyes is that they are a self publisher that does practically everything themselves. Designing their own covers for one, which I think almost always perfectly grasp that VHS horror look. With that being said though, they are still working out the kinks to get the preorders and Goodreads up and running for these. Watch this space though, as I have no problem updating as information becomes available.

I’m honestly most excited for The Winter Haven Slasher, what about you?
