Cover Reveal: Slug Train by Chad Retterath

August 22, 2024 by Andy Peloquin Leave a Comment

FanFiAddicts, have we got something special (and more than a little weird) for you!

Late last year, we had a blast doing the cover reveal for Chad Retterath’s The Masked Crows:

Well, Chad is back with another cover–and let me tell you, it’s odd enough that it has me curious!

What’s this book you might ask? Well…it’s called:

Slug Train

Synopsis:

Nowhere is as dangerous as the Wildwood. Enormous insects inhabit the forest, happy to devour any humans that step foot within. As long as humans stay out of the forest, they are safe.

The slug train follows a strict schedule, transporting humans through the untamed central forest of Wildwood Isle on Mondays and Thursdays. Many people, like Chester Peekman, use the slug as a means to commute to the opposite side of Wildwood Isle. Chester is happy to escape the daily monotony of his career to look into the dangerous, dark forest on the long ride from Hannifer Bay to Fothwood.

Every day is dreaded, every moment at work a nightmare. The slug train is a brief interlude from that existential despair, a relaxing event, until the slug leaves its own route, bringing its passengers into the dangerous depths of the Wildwood.

The Mind Behind This Curious Creation

Chad Retterath is a middle school teacher and fantasy author from Minnesota.

He likes to read fantasy, comic books, and manga. Some personal favorites are The Black Company by Glen Cook, Superior Spider-Man by Dan Slott, and One Punch Man by One.

Chad studied at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the University of Nottingham. His first novel was published in 2019.

And now, with no further ado, BEHOLD THE SLUG TRAIN!

About Andy Peloquin

I am, first and foremost, a storyteller and an artist--words are my palette. Fantasy and science fiction are my genres of choice, and I love to explore the darker side of human nature through the filter of heroes, villains, and everything in between. I'm also a freelance writer, a book lover, and a guy who just loves to meet new people and spend hours talking about my fascination for the worlds I encounter in the pages of fantasy and sci-fi novels.
Speculative fiction provides us with an escape, a way to forget about our mundane problems and step into worlds where anything is possible. It transcends age, gender, religion, race, or lifestyle--it is our way of believing what cannot be, delving into the unknowable, and discovering hidden truths about ourselves and our world in a brand-new way. Fiction at its very best!
