An Intro to Indie Sci-Fi For Those Wondering Where to Start

March 1, 2024 by C. J. Daley (CJDsCurrentRead) 1 Comment

The idea for this came to me several months ago, probably during the latest flair up of “indie/self pub is inferior” or something similar, and you may have seen (or want to check out) the similar posts for both fantasy and horror suggestions. The point of which is not to argue, but to highlight some […]

Series Spotlight: The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, & Charlie Adlard

February 24, 2024 by C. J. Daley (CJDsCurrentRead) Leave a Comment

For starters, I was not an original reader of the series. I’m not huge on comics typically, and because I like to read a lot, and in chunks, I normally just don’t connect with the shorter form. However, as a huge fan of the show, I decided to give them a go, and I went […]

Review: The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden

February 16, 2024 by Eleni A.E. Leave a Comment

I don’t know what kind of otherworldly sorcery Arden imbues her words with to make them feel so visceral, poignant, truthful, beautiful and powerful. I’ve rarely felt with the depth that I have through her writing, even when it’s over extremely simple or seemingly mundane things. But I do know she’ll keep having a space on my shelves any time she writes anything. This latest novel merely cemented that.
